Meet the Owner of Aloha Truss – Paul Stykel
The owner of Aloha Truss is Paul Stykel, a seasoned construction professional known not only for his extensive industry knowledge and experience, but also for his approachable nature, can-do attitude, and relentless drive to make his customers happy. Paul is a long-time resident of Ramona, California. He embodies all the small-town courtesy and friendliness you’d expect, and couples it with the big-city, big-project knowledge that only comes from 30+ years working in every facet of the construction industry in California.
More Than 30 Years Overseeing Construction Projects Throughout California
Paul started his construction career in 1975 working first as a laborer and soon started helping on framing crews, experience that eventually led to his building a home for his own family in the 1980s. In 1991, he was given his opportunity to become a superintendent on a barracks project in Camp Pendleton, and this was only the first of many interesting and intricate jobs he oversaw.
Over the next 33 years, Paul worked as a superintendent for the largest construction companies in America and Canada, forging valuable relationships with clients, subcontractors, and staff and establishing his reputation in the industry. Paul completed more than $1.9 billion of work on large-scale construction jobs including many large and complex projects such as Amazon warehouses, parking structures, and water parks.
Bringing a Breadth and Depth of Construction Knowledge and Customer Focus to Every Roof Truss Build
Paul’s experience interfacing with CEOs and executives on expansive corporate developments, presenting to the top brass while building military barracks, and coordinating with project managers and contractors and homeowners on countless residential and commercial jobs has given him an impressive and deep knowledge of what goes into every project. Trusses are just one part of a build–a very important one–and Paul’s ability to communicate with the professionals overseeing the entire project makes him an invaluable partner to his clients.
The most important thing Paul learned while working with customers across multiple industries and projects is that impeccable service is 90% of what all customers want, whether the project is large or small. Clear communication, trustworthy timelines, consistent quality, reliable delivery, and budget sensitivity are hallmarks of giving the customer an excellent experience, and Paul makes sure every customer sees his commitment to these values on every project.
Going Home to Family and a New Chapter with Aloha Truss
During his time working on corporate projects, Paul and his wife Andrea built ten homes in Ramona, and they moved into each of them one by one as they raised their children. Family is the most important thing to Paul, and while he found his work challenging and fulfilling, project locations were often far from home, requiring weekly flights and long stays in hotels. Paul eventually decided he didn’t want to be away from his family so much. It was time to make a change, so in May of 2024, Paul acquired Aloha Truss in his hometown of Ramona, California.
Paul isn’t just a truss guy–he’s a seasoned construction professional with an impressive breadth and depth of knowledge. Because he built homes for his own family, he loves working with homeowners on the “smaller” jobs like large custom homes, residential remodels and additions, ADUs, barns, and garages that really improve the quality of life for a family. He also enjoys bringing his broad experience to the table to work with contractors and designers who ask him for his specialized expertise in wood trusses for their larger projects.
